FRIENDSHIP!
Nothing is more valuable that true friendship. I say “true” because there are so many false friends out there. Of course, then I guess they wouldn’t really be friends, would they! So many people seem to be surrounded by friends. If truth be told, most of them should probably be classed as acquaintances who don’t really know us rather than true friends but who’s to know? I think some are training friends.
Why do I say that? Well, if you read the article about binge housecleaning, you know I’m not wild about it - housecleaning, that is. It seems almost all of my true friends are - how shall I say it politely? Ehhh, there is no way. I will just have to say they are all VERY clean people.
One friend, who shall remain anonymous (Ginny) sweeps her floor at least 2-3 times during the course of an afternoon visit. Now, we can eat off those floors but she doesn’t think so. And bake? She could open a bakery, she’s so good. But I think all the people tromping in and out across the store floor would drive her into a sweeping frenzy!
And another unnamed friend, Tammy, well, she is a decorating queen. You know, she’s the sort of person who sees something she likes in a magazine and the re-creates it in her home with toothpicks and gum wrappers and makes it look like upper crust interior decorating. THEN has the nerve to disclaim, “Oh, it was nothing; I’m not really talented.” She can refinish a doghouse and makes it look like an expensive antique end table (I jest but you get the point). And, of course, you can eat off her floors, too.
I could go on and on and on. It seems most people I know are housecleaning pros while holding down full time positions or running businesses, and/or raising children or grandchildren. No matter when you drop in to visit, their homes are pristine yet still warm and inviting. I ask you - IS THIS FAIR?
I’m not a bad person. My home isn’t a pigsty but it sure isn’t house beautiful (YET). I can’t decorate to save my life. I can’t refinish anything because I haven’t got patience. I have to ask why why why do all my friends have the gene I’m missing? Oh, I have other talents they may not have but I still think it is strange that most of my true friends are like this.
Then I have true friends with other major talents like Carolyn who has her own music CD and sings like an angel or Kim who is founder and publisher of Fresh Outlook Magazine - but that’s another ramble! Hey, I’m not dumb - if I don’t mention that, my other true friends will think I don’t love them or am saying they are not clean freaks. Some I don’t know, not having been to their homes and others? You know who you are - you’re just like me!!
I will say that the truth of the matter is - true friends always bring you UP, never down. They will help you on our life’s pathway and hopefully, help you be a better person - or make you laugh hard enough to blow soda pop out your nose. It’s all good!
Do you know people who are so talented and yet still humble about it that you just can’t dislike them? Tell your story! Be nice and share their wonderful traits with the world!
Did you really say, “Blow soda pop out your nose”? We seem to always do that when we’re together. You’re just that kind of friend….
