SNOW SNOW SNOW!
I just have to drop in with this JOY note - it is SNOWING OUTSIDE! The ulitmate JOY - at least for those who don’t get it very often. I think the last time we had snow was somewhere in the late ’90s. And it has snowed enough today to do two things - cover the ground and bug hubby!
We argue every year - I say, “Oh I hope it snows this winter” and his reply is always, “No, it’s not going to happen.” He had a bad experience once in Wyoming and doesn’t ever want to be cold and in snow at the same time ever again. While I feel for him, I refuse to lose out on this wonderful experience. So every year I pray for snow between Christmas and Spring.
I LOVE IT. I grew up with snow so have missed it. I don’t miss driving in ice and slush but beautiful snow? I love when it covers the ugly brown dirty looking grass and ground - and this year, frozen mud. Everything looks pristine and is magically transformed into a wonderland. Even the cars driving by sound hushed because of the road being muffled by snow. Yes, I wax poetic but really, it is so beautiful. I’m going to get my fireplace going, get a mug of hot chocolate, open the window blinds and just watch it come down.
Of course, I am also practical. While I love what it does to the fields, I do want that road clear enough so I can drive into town tomorrow for my hair appointment! But either way, I am full of JOY today, frequently pausing at each window in the house to see how the snow has changed the view! I love snow!
I’m so happy that you got some snow this year! I love the snow and like you, pray for it every year. It has snowed a couple of times already and I’ve enjoyed it. This blog is dedicated to all things joy, and for me, snow definitely brings me joy. Every time it snows I walk around the house with a huge grin on my face. I look out at it falling and think to myself how much God must love me. Each time it snows I like to think it’s just for me! Recently my husband and I took a trip to Michigan to visit his family. I got snow there too, it was great! I was sitting on the sofa facing the fire in the fireplace, which is surrounded by a wall of windows, watching the snow being blown around by the wind as it fell heavily from the sky - it couldn’t get any better than that! As I sat there watching the snow I felt such a peace and joy inside me, it was almost indescribable. I could’ve sat there all day - LOL.
