COMPUTERS AND CRASHES
Sometimes I think the only thing my computer is being used for is as a place for the registry cleaner, anti-virus, anit-malware, anti-spyware, anti-fungal, anti-bacterial, and anti-whatever programming to reside. I looked at the desktop the other day and realized I had more links to things that keep my computer cleaned up than I did any other type program.
So - did that keep me from having to do a system recovery? It did not. As a matter of fact, I think my computer was too clean. I think my cleaning programs cleaned out things I needed to keep it running smoothly. Ah but the joy-part of that system recovery? I had just done an entire drive backup - halleluiah!
It is frustrating. I work very hard to keep that computer cleaned up from problems. Hubby, on the other hand, does nothing. He leaves that stuff up to me. His computer only has on it what I put on it. Since he’s rarely online, it’s just an anti-virus program and one spyware cleaner. His computer runs like a top. His computer never has problems. His computer makes mine look like chump change - and they are the same age and type. It is revolting!
I lost my blogsite the other day, too. I don’t know what happened but it changed on me and I couldn’t fix it. I had to get a new template and repost everything - but I lost the comments posted by other people - boo hoo. Sure, I had saved the posts so I could repost them but I lost those comments. I loved those comments - it meant someone had looked at my blog!
You have NO idea how yuck I felt when I realized I could not get out of doing that recovery - which means I lost everything except the things that came with the computer. All files, all purchased programs, everything. I have to tell you - if you want joy in your computer life - MAKE SURE YOU BACKUP YOUR COMPUTER FILES REGULARLY. Since I’d done the entire drive, I even had my programs saved. I was never a good back-er-upper - but for some reason (!) I just felt like I needed to do that backup.
Joy is obeying that prompting you get to do something - it really is!!
