MAKING SCENTS
I think we need to hold all cosmetic and beauty companies accountable for lying to us. If we don’t hold them accountable, who will? We’re the ones putting their stuff on our faces, lips, eyes, and lashes. Nothing ticks me off more about this than to discover we’ve been lied to.
To that end, I am working with the Agape Ranch Foundation to bring honest and current information to people. This information will be posted on www.beautyandscents.org. We will highlight those who go over and above to bring the truth to the consumer (such as www.cosmeticscop.com). We will also bring your links to great places to find products. I will tell you more about this later, as we get the kinks ironed out.
Today I just have to share this awesome website. While it may interest women more than men, a very smart man will earn big brownie points by paying attention here! Oh, all right – before I go on, I’ll explain it to you.
If you are a guy and you have a wife or girlfriend, discover what sort of scent she really would love to try. I don’t mean her normal run of the mill, “I wear it every day” scent or “gee the kids gave me this stuff for Christmas so I have to wear it” scent. I mean something she’d love to try but just doesn’t feel she can afford. Then, because you are a savvy guy with many smarts, you will go to this website I’m about to tell you about and purchase a decant of the perfume for her. (And yes, they have men’s cologne, too.)
OK, on to the Ramble. I met one of the perfume conspirators a few years ago when I purchased a few decants from her ebay storefront. Being in a small town area, I would have to drive an hour or more just to get to a cologne store to smell the scent on a test strip.
As we all know, just because we like (or don’t) like it on a test strip, that doesn’t mean it will mix with our skin. We have to try it on ourselves. One bottle, I was glad I only tried a small vial. My friend liked it much better than I did. The other led me to the purchase of a larger bottle later on. It just makes scents, oops, sense, to try before you splurge!

To decant is to spray, pour, or use sterile pipettes to take perfume from its original large bottle and repackage it in a smaller bottle or vial. This is a way to try many fragrances before buying a full bottle. Size varies but you are only purchasing a trial of the perfume you are interested in. The size ranges on this website are anywhere from 1 ml to 30 ml (plus).
