THANKSGIVING
In the midst of all the holiday feast preparations - cooking, baking or eating out - don’t forget one mportant thing: be sure and help someone this holiday season.
Be thankful for what you have and how, in America, we have so much more than other countries. We are truly a blessed nation and often forget that.
Don’t forget about the poor in your area. Find a way to give to the poor. Our Dollar General Stores here in my local area have boxes in their stores for food and toys. A few dollars can make a difference to a needy family. Salvation Army and the like often do food baskets.
Look around you and find someone in need - help them, bless them financially, give them a helping hand. Go through your house and gather up excess that you don’t need or don’t use. Take it to a local shelter, Salvation Army, or Goodwill.
Think outwardly rather than inwardly. Think of others instead of yourself. Get your eyes off of self. You will be amazed what a change in your attitude it can make to find someone in need and help them. This is what this entire upcoming season is all about - being a blessing to others.
I know that during our toughest time financially, my husband and I ended up focusing on gifting the people in the local nursing home. We didn’t have enough money for our own Christmas so working with our home church, we began finding ways to bring in gifts for these lonely people. It was one of the BEST Christmases we ever had because the people were so happy and we had so much fun finding gifts for them.
No matter what, you can find something to be thankful for.
EnJoy this holiday - and some of these incredible recipes (posted on http://www.joy-cafe.com/) given to me by wonderful friends!
